John Mullenfeld: Dream Transfusions |
Artworks, ruminations, lexical friction, scenes I steal from movies. Whatever ends up being blogged or reblogged here is between you and me. |
The Dream Transfusions Etsy has just been updated! Check it out for great deals on the original art work!
Babes. Another entry into the swirl girl thingy. Color pencil in my Moleskin.
I’ve been meaning to share this but haven’t been in proximity to a computer. Upon further reflection, it’s not such a bad thing. Turns out the majority of the work gets done when I’m actually at the table in front of the paper. This girl has gone through some phases but eventually became this image, a 10x15 color pencil illustration I’ve been calling “My Kingdom”.

A Christmas Gift for my sister, Tic Tok of the Royal Army of Oz. There were a few mistakes on this one, but it was a gift and sometimes it goes that way. Still really enjoyed working on this piece.
Another small entry into my “Swirl Girls” arena. I have summer on the brain and I’m in love with my gal. What’s more to say? Color pencil on cotton paper. 8”x6”
Serpent Handlers, Color pencil on cotton paper. 14”x7”
Exploring themes regarding the motives behind those who seek power and the inherent occult nature of serpent handling. I really enjoyed working on this piece. It was an art lesson unto itself.
Iris 4x14 colored pencil
Finished her on Halloween night, now I’m laying her down to rest.
Jenny Page, forged during this “Swirl Girls” fever dream I’ve been living. Jenny is by far my favorite entry and easily comes closest to what I’ve been trying to capture with this series.
Indeed a favorite. If the rest come out this way, I’ll count myself fortunate.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I, and I hope you caught the Zeppelin reference.

I spent some time last night with Gilly attempting to print an Autumn themed linocut with mixed results. We played around with some color variations and found the results we were looking for after making a fun mess.
I want to move on to the next step and print these on 12x8 sheets of black Stonehenge cotton paper. The design will include a full custom border flavored for the season.
The quote is from the short story “The Halloween Tree” by Ray Bradbury.
